However, with a little bit of skill and imagination, it can be a starter, appetizer or a complement to some of your dishes… it’s about the Halloween fried egg!
As you may have already deduced, the main ingredient of this delicacy is fried egg. Now, you have several options when it comes to preparing it to turn it into a totally terrifying Halloween dish. We will explain three options: For a skeleton fried egg: 1 fried egg per person Ketchup Mustard ½ tablespoon olive oil For a fried egg spider 1 fried egg per person 1 black olive per fried egg Ketchup 1 tablespoon olive oil For a fried egg skull 2 eggs per person ½ black olive 2 slices of bacon 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Preparation of the skeleton fried egg
Let’s start with the first, which, though it seems simple actually has its little trick, especially know how to handle egg yolk well. Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan, and when it is hot part the egg and pour, only, for the moment, what is the white, trying to keep the yolk in half of the egg. When the white begins to pick up color, add the yolk, only at the top of the white, so that it stays well positioned. Let it finish making the fried egg and remove it with great care.
Already on the plate, make your eyes with a little ketchup. For the mouth, you have two options: either you use ketchup or with a knife you make very shallow incisions to make it. The body part is easier, because you just need to use a little mustard to do it, giving it the shape of the body in the white part of the white one…
and woalá! You got a skeleton fried egg for Halloween!
Preparation of fried egg spider
This is a little simpler than the previous one, because you do not have to work so much with the yolk. That does not mean that you do not have to have a little bit of skill. After heating the olive oil in the pan, pour the egg, trying to keep the yolk right in the middle. Fry the egg thoroughly until ready and remove it to a plate.
Then use the ketchup to make the legs of the spider, while the half olive cut into two pieces and place on the yolk, to give the feeling of having eyes. As you can see, it doesn’t have much complication. Now, if you want to work a little harder, you could cut several black olives into very small strips to make the legs.
Skull Fried Egg Preparation
Although it can be prepared without the need for a mold, if you don’t have a lot of skill making fried eggs, we recommend that you make one using a mold. Pour the white of the two eggs to fill the mold, even a little the eye area of the skull. Then each yolk of each egg will go right in the eye area.
Fry well, for about 4 minutes with the lid on. This way both the yolk and the white will be better done. In another frying pan fry a couple of slices of smoked bacon, with very little oil, until golden brown.
Place the skull on the plate, while you put the bacon strips in the form of a cross under the skull, so it will look like a pirate flag!
